Construction started on the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Commerce, Trade and Logistics Town in the free trade area after a launching ceremony at the Qianhai Kerry Center yesterday afternoon.

Covering an area of 86,100 square meters, the commerce, trade and logistics town is one of the six industrial towns Qianhai has planned to boost development. It has been designed to help Hong Kong enterprises in the commerce, retail and logistics sectors tap the mainland market.

It will feature a supply chain management center, a trade and commerce center, a culture and education center, housing and other supporting facilities.

Huang Min, chief of the Party committee of the Qianhai Authority, said at the ceremony that the construction of the six industrial towns is an effort Qianhai made to enhance its role as a platform for Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation, a portal of opening up and a driving force of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area construction.

At the ceremony, a number of Qianhai-based key commercial and logistics enterprises including Sinotrans Logistics, YH Global and Li & Fung signed a letter of intent to relocate their business into the town after completion.

China Tourism Group Duty Free Co. Ltd. also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Qianhai Authority.

Peng Hui, the company chairman, said the company will build a warehouse of Asia-Pacific duty-free products, a duty-free goods distribution center, and a high-end tourism consumption center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in Qianhai.

“Taking the geographical and policy advantages of Qianhai, we aims to promote the gathering and development of duty-free goods and other high-end commercial tourism consumption industries in Qianhai,” he said.
